VCMilC Funds

THe JOhn Noster Memorial fund

Picture
(John Noster served in the United States Army in his younger years and had a heart for the struggles that military personnel, both former and active-duty, and their families experience. His desire was to care for those who put their lives on the line for the protection of our nation.  Mr. Noster passed away in October of 2019. His family recently discovered a file that contained funds and a detailed note from Mr. Noster regarding his desire to have $5,000 donated to assist both former and active-duty military veterans. VCMilC is pleased to administer the John Noster Memorial Fund with 100% of the funds going directly to the needs of military and veteran.

Our first project was partnering with the food distribution on Naval Base Ventura County to assist those military and veteran families who are struggling with food insecurity. VCMilC spent $160 to provide 7,000 bags which volunteers filled with produce.

Our second project was partnering with Turning Point Foundation in July to help a Veteran get housing. VCMilC allocated $500 to assist our Veteran with a move to Nevada so that he could access permanent, affordable housing.

The third project utilizing the John Noster Memorial fund involves a Veteran and his spouse. After struggling financially and using the VA to assist with housing, this Veteran was assigned a caseworker. She jumped in to save the day with a request to VCMilC to help with auto repairs. Without the repairs to his car this Veteran would not be able to get to his medical appointments. Working together the VA and VCMilC were able to provide the support and the $500 this Veteran needed and he is back on the road again.

Mr. Noster's funding ($500)  has allowed VCMilC to buy lunches for 50 Veterans through Mission FISH. Without his funding these Veterans would have spent a day fishing without a meal. Thanks to Mr. Noster they will be well fed.
